The next Legislative session for the Arkansas General Assembly is right around the corner and it’s time to start asking for the attention of the Legislators and the Governor now. It would help if they had a way to see just how many families in Arkansas are affected by autism. So, what I would like to do is assemble a binder filled with stories and pictures of families from around the state. The information needed would be:

1. Your name.
2. Address/Phone or if you prefer just the City/County where you live.
3. Your family’s story (speak from your heart) about how autism has
affected you.
4. A picture of your family

Try to fit it on an 8 ½ X 11 piece of paper, and either mail it or email it to me (my address and phone # is below)We are planning to schedule meetings with various Legislative committees and with the Governor, and we need as many families to attend those meetings as we can get. I will send information about these meetings as soon as they are scheduled.

Please help if you can.

Sincerely,

Letter from Dianna Varady Re: Legislative Update 8-26-08

Quotes from some of our families in AANEA who wanted to share what AANEA has done for them or their child. • "The Pump It Up nights were a great way for my family to have an evening out" • "The AANEA has given a united voice to the families of Northeast Arkansas affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder" • "I just wanted to let everyone know how helpful it has been for me to meet other parents - I don't feel so alone anymore - It's just a relief almost to meet others who are dealing with the same issues I am - And it's wonderful to hear them share their child's successes - It gives me hope"
